Series Scoring

The scoring is simple. The age groups for The Race Series are 0-14*, 14-19*, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+. You will earn age group points in these age groups for each race you participate. The points are as follows:

  • 1st – 100 points
  • 2nd – 90 points
  • 3rd – 80 points
  • 4th – 70 points
  • 5th – 60 points
  • 6th – 50 points
  • 7th – 40 points
  • 8th – 30 points
  • 9th – 20 points
  • 10th – 10 points
  • participation – 10 points

Please note the age groups (at each race) are defined by that race and may not follow The Race Series age groups.  For example, Hit the Brixx may have age groups 0-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+ and give their awards based on their age groups.  However, The Race Series ignores the age groups defined by each race and you are earning points in The Race Series age groups listed above.

Want to see the series standings?  Just click the button above. We will update them within 72 hours after each race.  Contact us for any corrections. We try and combine all your times for multiple races (under your name) but we may (and will) miss some. If you see your name listed twice, simply email us and we will correct it.

You must run a minimum of five (5) races to qualify for the series and be eligible for awards. You can win your age group by participating in five (5) Race Series events.  We will score all of your races in the series. The more you run, the better chance you have to win!

  • Run 3 races… sorry out of luck.  Can’t win an award
  • Run 4 races… sorry out of luck.  Can’t win an award
  • Run 5 races… you can win an award. We will score all 5 races
  • Run 6 races… you can win an award. We will score all 6 races
  • Run 7 races… you can win an award. We will score all 7 races
  • Run 8 races… you can win an award.  We will score all 8 races
  • Run all the races… Congrats you are a monster AND WE SCORE ALL OF YOUR RACES & YOU GET A SPECIAL GIFT!

Overall Points

You are competing for age group points/awards, but it gets even better.  The overall points are awarded the same as the age group points: 50pts for 1st overall, 45pts for 2nd overall, etc, etc.  Note, your OVERALL POINTS and your AGE GROUP POINTS will not be the same.  You are accumulating OVERALL POINTS based on your overall finish position.  You are accumulating AGE GROUP POINTS based on your age group finish position… make sense?

Age-Up Rule. Your age group is defined for ALL races in The Race Series based on your age as of the end of the year.  That means that the age group you will be competing in is your age as of the last day of the year. Remember this when you look at race results from The Race Series races.  Someone may be in the 30-34 age group at a specific race but for The Race Series they may be in the 35-39 age group (thus taking away your valuable points… darn that rule!)

Tie-Breaker. In the case of a tie, the highest average place finish per-event will be used to break the tie.  If two runners have the same number of points and the same average place finish, a head-to-head tiebreaker will be used to declare the winner (whoever won the most head-to-head races).   If each runner is still tied then the runner who has finished the most races will win. If each runner ran the same number of races then the LAST race in the year in which BOTH runners participated will be used to decide the head-to-head tiebreaker.  For example, if both runners participate in the Cannonball Races, the runner winning the head-to-head competition will be declared the winner. If two runners are tied and did not compete head-to-head against each other, then the runner who finished the latest race in the calendar will be the winner.

Series Awards

The best part is getting free stuff and we have plenty.  The top 3 in their age groups will get some great awards.  Our awards banquet has become a not-to-be-missed event and is a great wrap-up to the competitive season.  We put on a great party to celebrate your accomplishments and each other.

*Athletes in the 0-19 age group are competing for pride and are not eligible for the prize package if they plan on participating in NCAA sports. Receiving cash or merchandise awards is prohibited if you plan to compete in college athletics.
